Why Did Jesus Christ Come to Earth?
We must always seek to learn all that the Bible teaches about Jesus Christ. In this passage our Lord teaches us some reasons on why He came to earth.
1. He came to teach people about His plan of Salvation. 3:17-18a
1.1. He did not come to condemn Ou gar apesteilen o qeoV
1.2. condemn κρίνω – of the judgment of God or of Jesus the Messiah, deciding between the righteousness and the unrighteousness of men: absolutely, John 5:30
1.3. saved σῴζω – to rescue from danger & to restore to a former state of safety & well being
1.4. believes in Him / Mark 1:15…Repent and believe in the gospel.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. NKJV
2. He came to teach people about His plan for Judgment. 3:18b-20
2.1. does not believe – one who rejects Christ
2.2. condemned already – judged for their unbelief
2.3. Darkness is obstinate rejection of Jesus Christ
2.3..1. their deeds are evil (a way of life without the Lord Jesus Christ)
2.3..2. loves darkness and hates the light
2.3..3. Darkness – no Christ, no Bible, no church,
No Christ, No Peace! Know Christ, Know Peace!
3. He came to teach people about His plan for changing Lives. 3:21
3.1. Christians are committed to the truth.
3.2. Christians are committed to conducting their lives according to the truth.
3.3. Christians are committed to showing what God has done in them.
